Hi D. Caldwell and all of you,

Thanks D. Caldwell.
This is both addressed to you and others on this list.

What do you think about this one:

"The difficulty of giving one the Wisdom Religion is dealt with by H. P. B.
in the Secret Doctrine as follows:

Opinion must be reserved because:
Complete explanation for initiates only.
Only a fragmentary portion of the esoteric meaning given.
Only adepts can speak with authority. - S. D., I, 188, 190. II, 55, 90.
The teachings are offered as a hypothesis. - II, 469.
We must lose sight entirely of:
Dogmatic beliefs.
Special religions. - S. D., I, 3, 4.
We must be free from prejudice. - S. D., III, 1. We must also:
Be free from conceit.
Free from selfishness.
Ready to accept demonstrated truth.
We must find the highest meaning possible. S. D., III, 487.
We must be also non-sectarian. - S. D., III, 110.
We must remember the handicap of language. - S. D., I, 197, 290, 293.
We must aim to become a disciple. - S. D., I, 188. II, 246. III, 129.
We must eventually develop powers. - S. D., I, 518. II, 85.
We must lead the life of Brotherhood. S. D., I, 190.
We must remember that H. P. B . makes no claim to infallibility. S. D., II,
25 note, 273. I, 293.
H. P. B. says:

"I speak with 'absolute certainty' only so far as my own personal belief is
concerned. Those who have not the same warrant for their belief as I have
would be very credulous and foolish to accept it on blind faith... What I do
believe in is:

The unbroken oral tradition revealed by living divine men during the infancy
of mankind to the elect among men.
That it has reached us unaltered.
That the Masters are thoroughly versed in the science based on such
uninterrupted teaching." - Lucifer, Vol. V, p. 157.
"The Secret Doctrine is no 'authority' per se; but being full of quotations
and texts from the Sacred Scriptures and philosophies of almost every great
religion and school, those who belong to any of these axe sure to find
support for their arguments on some page or another. There are, however,
Theosophists, and of the best and most devoted, who do suffer from such
weakness for authority." - Lucifer, Vol. III, p. 157."
The above is taken from "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire" 1925; Alice A. Bailey, p

And let us have it just one more time:
"There are, however, Theosophists, and of the best and most devoted, who do
suffer from such weakness for authority."

Now my problem is, that too many Theosophist of different kind and
pro-Baileys claim, that their version has to be given authority. That can't
be the true theosophical spirit.

And to NOT answer questions when asked, seems to imply, that some here at
Theos-Talk (some of the pro-Baileys at least) are NOT ready to accept the
following sentence from the above - written by both Blavatsky and Bailey !!!
"Ready to accept demonstrated truth." (Blavatsky)

And this one also:
We must be also non-sectarian. - S. D., III, 110.

To be non-secterian, one will have to deal with Theosophy without the so
very present cultural biased tendencies, which we so often have to withness
even both here at Theos-Talk and elsewhere on New-Age oriented Theosophical
groups websites.
As long as pro-Baileys keep defending Baileys writings - and OFFER it to
newcomers, I have to say, they are both against Blavatsky and Bailey as well
!!! (This is written with the above quote in mind)
Why have so few muslims joined Bailey groups ?
And why have so few muslims joined other Theosophical groups ?

I have never received a wise answer to that yet !

Only adepts can speak with authority. - S. D., I, 188, 190. II, 55, 90.
I havn't seen any Authorities speak yet - have you ?

To enhance the theosophical teachings I offered the following article. And I
have done so several times.
And yet I havn't really received any remarks on it.

M. Sufilight with peace...

H.P. Blavatsky and Koot Hoomi on Distinguishing between the True and
the False

Madame Blavatsky wrote in THE KEY TO THEOSOPHY:

"Look around you and observe. While two-thirds of civilized society
ridicule the mere notion that there is anything in Theosophy,
Occultism, Spiritualism, or in the Kabala, the other third is
composed of the most heterogeneous and opposite elements. Some
believe in the mystical, and even in the supernatural (!), but each
believes in his own way. Others will rush single-handed into the
study of the Kabala, Psychism, Mesmerism, Spiritualism, or some form
or another of Mysticism. Result: no two men think alike, no two are
agreed upon any fundamental occult principles, though many are those
who claim for themselves the ultima thule of knowledge, and would
make outsiders believe that they are full-blown adepts. . . . Some
limit ancient wisdom to the Kabala and the Jewish Zohar. . . . Others
regard Swedenborg or Boehme as the ultimate expression of the highest
wisdom; while others again see in mesmerism the great secret of
ancient magic. One and all of those who put their theory into
practice are rapidly drifting, through ignorance, into black magic.
Happy are those who escape from it, as they have neither test nor
criterion by which they can distinguish between the true and the
false. . . . A portion of the true [Esoteric] sciences is better than
a mass of undigested and misunderstood learning. An ounce of gold is
worth a ton of dust. . . . "

Quoted from:

Mahatma Koot Hoomi in a letter to A.P. Sinnett wrote:

". . . You have heard of and read about a good many Seers, in the
past and present centuries, such as Swedenborg, Boehme, and others.
Not one among the number but thoroughly honest, sincere, and as
intelligent, as well educated; aye, even learned. Each of them in
addition to these qualities, has or had . . . a 'Guardian' and a
Revelator -- under whatever 'mystery' and 'mystic name' -- whose
mission it is -- or has been to spin out to his spiritual ward -- a
new system embracing all the details of the world of Spirit. Tell me,
my friend, do you know of two that agree? And why, since truth is
one, and that putting entirely the question of discrepancies in
details aside -- we do not find them agreeing even upon the most
vital problems -- those that have either 'to be, or not to be' -- and
of which there can be no two solutions? . . . "

". . . Vainly do your modern seers and their prophetesses, creep into
every cleft and crevice without outlet or continuity they chance to
see; and still more vainly, when once within do they lift up their
voices and loudly cry: 'Eureka! We have gotten a revelation from the
Lord!' --- for verily have they nothing of the kind. They have
disturbed but bats, less blind their intruders; who, feeling them
flying about, mistake them as often for angels - as they too have

Quoted from:

Stainton Moses, a "seer" and medium of the 1880s wrote to A.P.

". . . my inner spirit-sense is opened. Only yesterday . . . Imper
[ator] . . . was clearly visible and audible to me. . . . "

To this comment by Stainton Moses [S.M.], Koot Hoomi wrote:

". . . So is Jesus and John the Baptist [clearly visible and audible]
to Edward Maitland; [who is] as true and as honest and sincere as
S.M. . . . And does not E. Maitland see Hermes the first and second
and Elijah, etc. Finally does not Mrs. [Anna] Kingsford feel as sure
as S.M. with regard to + [Imperator] that she saw and conversed with
God!! . . . And who purer or more truthful than that woman or
Maitland! Mystery, mystery will you exclaim. IGNORANCE we answer; the
creation of that we believe in and want to see. . . . "
