It may be worth mentioning here that Christians attack people, not
because they disagree or disapprove (although I am sure they do both)
but because that is what makes those coins and bills fall into the
alms plate.
Some years ago for I was channel surfing and happened to turn on Pat
Robertson's salvation show. I have no recollection why I did not
turn it off. His show has no appeal for me whatever. I was probably
defrosting something in the microwave or something. Anyway, before I
changed channels, Robertson put an advertisement on for what was made
to appear to be a soft core porno film disguised as a documentary
about homosexuals. That the FCC would let Robertson advertise porno
films on his show amazed ne, and that it woud be advertised
on "christian" television show notes for unusually pompous moralizing
anazed me even more. Naturally I turned Robertson off as I always
do. Keeping him and Jerry Falwell out of my consciousness is a form
of mental hygiene I practice. Sometime later I subscribed to DETAILS
magazine and there was an article therein by the man who started this
whole thing.
I am giving this from memory, but the way he explained it, Falwell's
revenues started drying up. Those guys live like kings so that was a
disaster. You know when Swaggart's revenues started declining he had
to give up some of his personal airplanes and his personal mansions
and stay at home instead of visitng so many whores. So Falwell
naturally wanted to find a way to boost revenies and someone came up
with this anti-homo campaign of his. Falwell was the one who started
it, Robertson saw it work and jumped on the bandwagon to increase his
income as well, and the article confirmed that the video I saw
advertised was pornographic. What was even more amazing was that at
$29.95 a crack, Robertson could not keep them in stock. They were
just literally flying off the shelves. The punch line of course was
that the man hired to manage the campaign (the author of the article)
was himself a homo who came out for the purpose of embarrassing
Falwell.
One would think just being Falwell would be embarrassing enough.
