Well, I consider the use of phenomenology to attract followers, real or
faked, to be more or less equivalent. Jesus was right to say "no" to
Satan in the desert.
I DO however, differentiate between phenomenology used just to get
people's attention to be different from the use of phenomenology to
"prove" one's spiritual advancement, especially if part of the message
is, "If you're following me for my tricks, then don't bother."
I think that H.P.B.'s slowly increasing stance against phenomenology
during her later career was due to her realization of this.
