Dear Friend:

As I study Theosophy from The SECRET DOCTRINE , we are first
invited to consider that totality is neither in evolution
(manifested) nor is it out of evolution (non-manifested). In
other words there is an eternal background (ABSOLUTENESS) which
cannot be described or given attributes to as it contains all.

Periodically, cyclically, under KARMA manifestations and Universe
emerge from this background.

The sequence given is

1. the UNMANIFESTED LOGOS. Logos (word, verbum) implies
a Mind, a limitation, a previous set of causes that demand a
present manifestation. Hence “Matter”: has existed before, Mind
has existed before, desires,. thoughts and actions have been
performed and have left ineffaceable marks on the warps of the
ineffaceable. Under cycles a radiation causes the UNIVERSE to
reappear. The Unmanifested Logos is the first flutter of
IDEATION that outlines a PLAN.

2. The MANIFESTING LOGOS. This is the next stage, when
the Ideation causes the PLAN to consolidate and assume active
patterns in the first nebulous states of spiritualized matter
(chaos, the “Abyss”). There, we may mentally grasp that these
will prevail throughout the subsequent time and periods of a
cycle of manifestation (which extends say ancient scriptures to a
period of 311 trillion and 40 billion of our years).

These will determine the formation of various planes (10 and 7 +
3) and correlations of matter and intelligence. They also
provide for the return of immortal intelligences, Monads of MIND,
whether as an “essence” or “individualized” -- beings of Mind,
able to serve as the vehicles for all the wisdom of the past, and
these being the highest in the planes of manifestation, assist in
the next stages when Natural Law (Karma) affords a basis for
individual and group Karma to resume its operations through
humanity as Intelligences that use vehicles of ”matter.” The
“form” is always a product of the inner intelligence. In man
this is to be seen as self-consciousness.

3. The MANIFESTED LOGOS is a concept for the whole of
manifestation -- Spirit-Matter-Mind in evolution. Mind is, at
this stage, the UNIVERSAL MIND - Mahat. The highest most
spiritualized aspect of “matter is BUDDHI, wisdom - the total
memory of experience,

Mind serves as a bridge between BUDDHI and the rest of the
manifested vehicles in which the independence of intelligent
free-will develops. Mankind represents this stage. We are in
the midst of it.

Matter then is to be understood to be a concretization of
Spiritual forces. This is the “Cause” of the whole evolutionary
display and reality.

The whole of Nature is sentient, intelligent. The level of
individual intelligence may be surmised from the nature of the
elements animated by host of Monads. ( minerals, plants,
animal ). Through all these levels, the imperishable, eternal
Monads wend their evolutionary way, always learning from
experience, always under the guidance and rule of Nature (KARMA
in general). Monads are to be found everywhere in Space. There is
no “void” without them.

A Man (or Woman) is an individualized Monad using a physical body
made up of innumerable Monads of lesser experience.

The end product of manifestation is to develop individual
intelligences that can perceive these patterns and assist all
others to gain this knowledge.

The method of comparing the wisdom exposition of Pymander with
theosophy, is to compare the qualities and potentials indicated
in each.

Hermetic Genesis

If you can imagine a glorious and pulsating radiance. This
light is the spiritual nature of Universal Life.

Imagine now if you will, a great darkness descending, expanding
and swallowing up the Light.

And everywhere a swirling and mysterious watery substance,
which gives forth a smoke like vapor. The air is filled with
inarticulate moanings and sighings which seem to come from the
light being swallowed up in the darkness.

The light is the form of the spiritual Universe and the
swirling darkness which had engulfed it represents the material
substance.

The waters of Light were divided from the waters of darkness
and from the waters of light were formed the worlds above and
from the waters of darkness were formed the worlds below.

I thy God am the Light and Mind which were before substance
was divided from spirit and darkness from Light.

Then the Father, Supreme Mind, being Light and Life, fashioned
a glorious Universal Man in his own image, not an earthy Man, but
a heavenly Man dwelling in the light of God. The Supreme Mind
loved the man it had fashioned.

The Man made himself manifest to nature stretched out below.
The man, looking into the depths, smiled, for he beheld a shadow
upon the earth and a likeness mirrored in the waters, which
shadow and likeness were a reflection of himself. The Man fell in
love with his shadow and desired to descend into it. Coincident
with the desire, the intelligent man united itself with the
unreasoning image or shape.

Nature beholding the descent, wrapped herself around the Man
whom she loved, and the two were mingled. For this reason, earthy
Man is a composite. Within him the SKY MAN, immortal and
beautiful;without is Nature,mortal and destructible.

Of the immortal Man it should be said that he is
hermorphodite,or male and female,and eternally watchful.he
neither slumbers or sleeps,and is governed by a father also both
male and female and ever watchful.Such is the mystery kept hidden
till this day, for Nature, being mingled with the SKY MAN,
brought forth a wonder most wonderful.

And Man received Universal light and Life, and of the life was
made his soul and of the light was made his MIND.

Let him that is endued with MIND know himself to be immortal,
for he who has recognized himself enters the state of Good.

All men within whom dwells the spirit of my MIND(Universal
Mind) may be saved by my MIND in you, which shall call forth my
MIND in them.

O people of the earth, men born and made of the elements, but
with the SPIRIT of DEVINE MAN within you, rise from your sleep of
ignorance ! Be sober and thoughtful. REALISE that your home is
not in the earth but in the "LIGHT"
