Re: Help

Dear Friend:

This can be learned from a careful study of Theosophy:

Direct instruction comes to all of us from WITHIN.

Strange, but Theosophically considered, we are, in terms of
our SPIRIT-SOUL ( ATMA-BUDDHI ) united on the spiritual
plane with the highest possible instructor: our own ATMA
(also called THE HIGHER SELF). This is common to all of us,
as it is universal. It is a brotherhood of spiritual
wisdom. We have to recognize it. We have to activate our
inclination to refer to it constantly. Going "outside" by
rites, rituals, words and postures does absolutely nothing
spiritually. Discipline of the Mind is the chief purpose of
life. Nature provides us with many successive lives in
which to achieve this perfection. The longest journey
begins with the first step, said the Chinese. We are
already half-way there.

The main problem in contacting that inner guide and divine
SELF is our "personality," and its likes and dislikes.
These we ought to identify and determine which are useful
and which are not.

The "desire nature" is the obstruction to the "wise
Buddhi-nature" -- where all the experience of our past
lives is stored.

Whenever we make a choice the "voice of conscience" speaks
to us ( if we will but listen). That comes from Buddhi, and
also is sometimes called "intuition." But every intuition
or word needs to be carefully checked with our living and
actual knowledge of truth, universality, and benevolence.

Brotherhood, to others, as to ourselves, is the key idea.

We "grow and progress" by developing the impartial, sincere,
honest and truth seeking MIND faculty. It is the MIND that
controls desire. The Mind belongs to the triune
INDIVIDUALITY (ATMA-BUDDHI-MANAS) the IMMORTAL MAN who never
dies. The SPIRIT/SOUL of every human is the controller of
the MIND. When we say "I" in the highest sense we mean
THAT.

The best that any one can do for another is to offer a view
of the path or the learning process they have encountered
and that they believe to have benefited them. But each one
has to do their own study.

If any one tries to derive monetary profit or other personal
advantages from "spiritual instruction" the nature of that
teaching becomes sullied and blurred to some extent. Occult
wisdom can not be bought. This is a truism.

There are no short-cuts. The "sudden enlightenment" (satori)
that is spoken of in Zen Buddhism descends on the aspirant
only after many lives of effort, discipline and careful
study of what he has known, experienced and remembered.
Everything begins in the mind focused of the impartial, the
universal, the generous and the altruistic. There is where
our "true selves" always live.

Each individual Spirit-Soul has to learn on their own. You
have to identify the "confusion." First of course to
yourself. what dead-end have you encountered ? What
indications of other answers have you looked in to? Tally
your results, then ask what unites or dissociates them.

If you desire to find some instructions then go to the
Web-page of http://www.blavatsky.net and view the
available texts there on line.

If you wish to choose one to begin with, if you have not
already done this, then use the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) and
/ or the OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY (Judge). They have to be well
studied and mastered before any further "progress" can
ensue.

To develop the intuition and a deeper sense of the HIGHER
SELF within, a few minutes spent in daily reading and
thinking about the injunctions given in THE VOICE OF THE
SILENCE (H P B) will probably be found helpful.

If you wish to ask questions of those who subscribe to these
chat-groups then be assured that someone will answer and
offer assistance. In the meantime, I hope this is of some
help.

Best wishes,

Dallas

PS	Some have the idea that they have to join some kind of
spiritual class or club, or society. One has to first
identify exactly what "spiritual" means. No one can tell
us. But our awakened intuition can.

So we could start with a sincere and careful inquiry into
the meaning of permanency, truth and immortality. And
whether the physical nature we all contact when awake, is
the only thing in the universe. And if not, then what else
is there?

Reading carefully the first 300 pages of The SECRET DOCTRINE
is a good idea also.

The "FUNDAMENTALS" are there. (pp. 14 - 19). But I am sure
you already know this.

My journey has brought me this far in search of truth and
spiritual
enlightenment.

I am now confused and seek direct instruction.

With thanks
