Re: Study and work at BLAVATSKY NET
Dear Larry:
As to points of view. According to what The SECRET DOCTRINE
mentions there are 6 of these plus the 7th which synthesizes
them all. Seems complicated. Sounds like the points of
view provided by the faculties and qualities of the
respective "principles." have any idea of what that is? I
have been seeking to understand what that implies.
The Theosophical symbol exemplifies this: the 2 interlaced
triangles which surround a central point.
It seems to me that the Objects of the T S and the
THEOSOPHICAL MOVEMENT give us all latitude to speculate on
events and their causes. However H P B and the Masters saw
fit to give us certain facts concerning the evolutionary
scheme that help us understand the whole process of
evolution. Much that our Science and discovery efforts have
shows are in the nature of effects. The Causes are to be
found and are significant.
Materialism and superficiality are not alone the basis for
any sound evaluation. The other aspects are like the "keys"
to different dimensions of reality and all taken together
give the ONE LIFE a chance to manifest and produce the
supports that we need and enjoy -- in addition lets remind
ourselves that over the past 125 years Science has
increasingly corroborated the doctrines and teachings H P B
advanced.
It may be unfair to let any one opinion stand as
representative of the whole, but taken along with others,
some constructive advance in understanding is found. The
freedom of expression and the diversity of views needs to be
looked at.
What does a knowledge of Theosophy do for us. It provides
tolerance, an d a brad basis for consideration that tends to
abolish the biases of prejudice and personal opinions, pride
and arrogance, and restores the common-sense that we all
need: the human equation which is humility before the grand
panorama of total knowledge available to all.
The umbrella of Theosophy asks for and in fact orders this.
It advances as a base the common spiritual basis of our
existence. It advances the record we all use of our
experience as memory, habit and the power to anticipate and
compare.
It recognizes the power of desire and will and sees them as
part of the equation of learning. It emphasizes the need
for attention and consideration of all factors.
To some this is tedious, to others who desire certainty,
these are steps and methods to be used. In any case the
majestic progress of the Universe and of our world is a
fact, and we add what we can to that.
That which has happened is not revocable. The
interpretations and selective opinions and attitudes adopted
by individuals are always subject to peer review, and a
consideration of the conclusions anyone develops, to others
minds. This does not mean there is not some basic truth or
basic motive for every action. That is what we are all
looking for:
If we desire honesty, sincerity, and a search for the truth
of things, then any mid-step resting place deserves to be
questioned and examined for worth. Everything has it due
place. But no one is encouraged to adopt the opinions or
dicta of any one else unless that is also reasonable,
universal, impersonal, just and fair -- and always
approaches to Truth in an unbiased and unprejudiced manner.
This is provide as a method and a process to all which use
theosophy for their guide in learning. But one has to KNOW
what Theosophy teaches to be able to do that. If we do not
know what Theosophy teaches, then we cannot say with
exactitude anything except some personal opinion.
I admire you, Larry for the good and helpful work you are
doing. Many thanks.
best wishes,
Dallas

Subject: [bn-study] Re: cosmology, the evolution of man and
of the Universe
We have now seen replies from both Carl and Tony expressing
their
opinions on the Bible/Sd study. When Carl first submitted
his post
several days ago, I composed a rather lengthy reply and sent
in on to
Lyris. As I often do, I let it set there for awhile and then
reread it
with my "moderators eyes" and then rejected my own post.
I have been reflecting on both what Carl and what Tony have
expressed and
now realize they are only sharing their own preferences. We
all have
them. Like everything else in this world, Theosophy too is
many things
for different people that's one reason we no longer have one
united
organization and haven't since close to the inception of the
movement.
People relate to things differently.
Some like the open structure and format of ULT, while other
would feel
uncomfortable there and prefer the classed and format of
TS-Adyar/Wheaton
or the way things are done at TS/Pasadena. Some like to
delve deeply into
Theosophical History like Daniel does, others like to sort
through
articles like John. Some. like Dallas prefer their Theosophy
served up
plain and simple, with no frill, thank you! Some like myself
and
Christina like "organizing" topics like in our matrix
project or now this
Bible/SD study. Reed seems to like the Science and Theosophy
tieins.
And you know what? That's all OK! So we are different.
That's one reason
i try to offer a variety of format on BN-Study, because I
KNOW one way
won't please everyone. I simply hope all can be tolerant
enough to allow
each his own. Universal Brotherhood requires as much.
Thanks, Carl and Tony, for those thoughts. I'll keep them in
mind as we
proceed.
Larry
