Dear Friend:

Re: Value of the New Testament as compared with the OLD
TESTAMENT.

As I understand it Jesus came to help the Jews.. His work
was to reinforce that of the earlier teachers: Buddha and
Krishna. They covered a vast field with their teachings,
which down to today are still available, in original and in
modern language translations.

Why do we bother about writing on Theosophy now? I say, for
myself: because there are some who desire to learn in the
here and now, and do not yet have the incentive to go to the
sources.

Why do we have an educational system that gradually
acquaints students with reading writing arithmetic, and
thinking ? It is not sufficient to know there are available
great philosophical treatises, but we need now an
introduction to them. Who is to provide that ?

All I say is that Christianity does not need the OLD
TESTAMENT. it burdens and distorts the focus of an ethical
nature that Jesus desired to institute. Why do people
insist on judging others with their partial knowledge and
prejudices? That is NOT wisdom.

How many own a copy of the DHAMMAPADA (Buddha) or the
BHAGAVAD GITA (Krishna) ? There are some good and bad
translations available. How do we differentiate? And if
they own these small books how many actually study and seek
to learn from them?

The "red letter" versions of the NEW TESTAMENT give us (we
hope) reasonable versions of what Jesus said. They are not
lengthy. But who studies and seeks to apply those ?

Do we not first need a knowledge of Nature and her Laws and
purposes? And where does that come in?

Best wishes,

Dallas

Hi Dallas,

Why not just stick with Buddha and Krishna to start with
then?? I
personally don't see where Jesus or Christianity added
anything of
substance, and since I have no way of knowing when or if he
ever lived,
or if he ever said what has been attributed to him, then I
have no way
of relating to Jesus in any meaningful way.
