Keeping California safe

Jul 12, 2002 06:33 AM
by Steve Stubbs

After stupidly beating a man half to death in broad
daylight, Inglewood's finest and sheriff's deputies
fanned out across the area to determine if anyone had
a video camera. Everyone denied having taped the
beating, but Mitchell Crooks, who had taped the
beating, turned his tape in to the news media. Bad
move. Crooks was then the recipient of death threats
from unnamed sources. Nobody seems to be able to
figure out who would want to threaten him with death
for videotaping a beating by Inglewood police thugs.
Crooks was then found and arrested by a number of
Inglewood police in plain clothes and was videotaped
screaming for help. Subsequently he was beaten and
taken to a Los Angeles area hospital for treatment.
Released, he has been remanded to the custody of
Inglewood police for more beatings. That'll teach
him. He has of course been denied access to an
attorney.

The cameraman who videotaped Crooks being arrested and
screaming for help is not expected to live through the
weekend. No comment from the Inglewood police chief
on who else, if any, has been marked for death. That
is confidential police information. The reporters who
covered the story are all prime candidates. The
district attorney interjected a little humor into the
situation by saying that all this has been instigated
by his "integrity" department. Integrity department,
get it? He ought to be on the Tonight Show. He's
hilarious.

Now here's the question. Will Inglewood's finest gun
down cameraman #2 in broad daylight and in front of TV
cameras leading to an ever expanding series of
killings? Or will they take him to the police station
where he will die under mysterious circumstances?

What do you think?

Abd also, are you planning a vacation in Inglewood any
time soon?
