During my research some years ago - learned, that the science of Parapsychology - recognized in several countries - to the degree, that Universities offer the possibility for a doctorate on it.

The countries Russia, USA, Canada, China, Japan, France, Netherlands(?), and Belgium are among those offering such an education...

Certain Arab countries - has a branch of science of 'Sufism' (this is not esoteric Sufism). There the option of research on parapsychology seems possible, but that is only in a more religious manner.
But lately - there are openings - in some of the Arab countries on this issue too. (see for instance - http://koran.topcities.com/Library/A0002.htm - http://www.100megsfree4.com/farshores/p_iraq.htm )
But the opposition against western methodology on parapsychological issues is still very strong in the Arab countries. Well, that is what I think.

India has their own version on parapsychology. They most often call it dharma !

The name used - is not always - 'parapsychology' - but the teaching is basically the same.
