Dear Dallas,
Thank you very much for this three-part investigation into the nature
of real spiritualism. Humanity today, posessing only some of its
potential powers, has a difficult time encompassing a larger view of
the phenomena we only partially perceive and very partially
understand. For many, an entree into theosophical study comes
when they discover that it contains some reasonable explanations
for some of those half-perceived things which no other body of
thought seems to be able to explain, if in fact it accepts them at all.
When we begin to sense that there is more to reality than that
which we can see, touch, or otherwise sense, we are in a
dangerous condition, because if we do not find some way to
investigate these things which includes the real information, along
with the appropriate warning of dangers inherent, we can become
intoxicated with the wonder of it and possibly do damage to
ourselves and others, as you have described.
Those of us who do not accept any reality beyond the material may
find means to try to prove that transcendent experiences are all
sham, but for any who have had some such experiences, there is a
need to try to understand what they represent. The clear
explanation of such phenomena, along with the explanation that the
evolution of humanity leads toward conscious control of the forces
of nature which cause them, is helpful to those who wish to know
more about themselves and life in general. Equally helpful is the
fact that the path to such knowledge is only safely trodden with
strict attention to ethical and moral self-responsibility.
Best wishes,
Adelasie
