Dear Larry,
If we look at the material manifestation, the numbers of members
currently enrolled, we may think that theosophy is a small force in
humanity. But if we think in larger terms, considering the hidden
nature of any occult phenomenon, and if we consider the
universality of the basics of theosophy, we might start to think that
this is a huge movement indeed. There are more and more people
who ask questions about things that have been accepted
unthinkingly for ages, such as why must we have war. Is this not
evidence that some aspect of the consciousness of brotherhood as
a fact of nature is penetrating the minds of more and more people?
We have only to think back to the social and political environment
of the past century to realize that things are changing, and that
many of the changes for the better can be directly traced to
theosophical teachings. Those of us who study these teachings
have a responsibility to manifest them in our daily lives, but we are
not the only ones who do that. Every time a person chooses to
behave according to his or her higher nature, to listen to the still
small voice of conscience which comes from the soul, which knows
the difference between selfishness and selflessness, there is a bit
more light in the world to fill the hearts of a few more people. And
the internet is a marvelous tool for spreading this kind of
information. I would say that theosophy is alive and very strong in
our time, whether we know how to measure it or not.
Best wishes,
Adelasie
