Dear friends:
We have for consideration:
" There are a number of important ideas to consider, two of which
are:
- the nature of primordial Akasa (symbolised by 'Father-Mother'
FIRE, the
ONE ELEMENT).
- the nature of FOHAT (symbolised by the Serpent) ... that force
which
differentiates the One Cosmic homogenous substance (Akasa) and
which action
is referred to as 'the evolution of the Universe'.
Would anyone like to offer comments on these?
Any other comments on our study passage below?

7. BEHOLD, OH LANOO!** THE RADIANT CHILD OF THE TWO, THE
UNPARALLELED
REFULGENT GLORY, BRIGHT SPACE, SON OF DARK SPACE, WHO EMERGES
FROM THE
DEPTHS OF THE GREAT DARK WATERS. IT IS OEAOHOO, THE YOUNGER, THE

thou knowest now as Kwan-Shai-Yin. -- Comment) (a). HE SHINES
FORTH AS THE
SUN. HE IS THE BLAZING DIVINE DRAGON OF WISDOM. THE EKA IS CHATUR

BEHOLD HIM LIFTING THE VEIL, AND UNFURLING IT FROM EAST TO WEST.
HE SHUTS OUT THE ABOVE AND LEAVES THE BELOW TO BE SEEN AS THE

AND TURNS THE UPPER (space) INTO A SHORELESS SEA OF FIRE, AND THE
ONE MANIFESTED (element) INTO THE GREAT WATERS (c).
==========================================
DTB A poetic description of the "sundering of the ONE" -- as
it passes from Maha Pralaya into Maha Manvantara
The "ABOVE" is perhaps the ABSOLUTE.
The "BELOW" are all the differentiated elements -- the 7
"principles", stating with ATMA which fractions itself into
uncountable MONADS throughout manifested SPACE.
The "SHINING ONES" are the "stars" which replicate for their
local areas the CENTRAL SPIRITUAL SUN.
The "ONE MANIFESTED ELEMENT" IS THE maha Buddhi --
Mulaprakriti -- the "root-matter," or PRIMORDIAL MATTER in it
most homogeneous form -- as a sea of energy -- which would appear
to us as a sea of fire. But as all things spiritual are
"inverted" here the simile "the GREAT WATERS" may be used because
it has more meaning for us.
{...continued from p. 76 vol 1.]
All the Kabalists and Occultists, Eastern and Western, recognise
(a) the identity of "Father-Mother" with primordial AEther or
Akasa, (Astral
Light)*; and
===================================
DTB Sounds like the UNIVERSAL MONAD in manifestation where the
SPIRIT (Father) is eternally interblended with the PRIMORDIAL
MATTER -- BUDDHI (mother)
Since MONADS fill all manifested SPACE, the Akasa is the highest
of the planes or spheres, spiritually, where they have there
conjoint being -- hence UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD -- the spiritual
basis.
The "ASTRAL LIGHT" is said to be the lowest plane or sub-division
of the Akasa
=====================================
(b) its homogeneity before the evolution of the "Son,"
cosmically Fohat, for it is Cosmic Electricity. "Fohat hardens
and scatters the seven brothers" (Book III. Dzyan); which means
that the primordial Electric Entity -- for the Eastern Occultists
insist that Electricity is an Entity -- electrifies into life,
and separates primordial stuff or pregenetic matter into atoms,
themselves the source of all life and
consciousness. "There exists an universal agent unique of all
forms and of life, that is called Od,** Ob, and Aour, active and
passive, positive and negative, like day and night: it is the
first light in Creation" (Eliphas Levi's Kabala):--- the first
Light of the primordial Elohim -- the Adam, "male and female" --
or (scientifically) ELECTRICITY AND LIFE.
=======================================
DTB It would be quit logical to hold the concept that UNIVERSAL
JIVA (LIFE) has to be active -- hence ELECTRIC. Its action
anywhere produces MAGNETISM.
Magnetism produces an active and a static FILED OF FORCE.
The "static field" is a universal impression -- hence it is said
that every Monad is mirrored in every other Monad.
The dynamic field is the result of choices (on the plane of
ethics and morals) as the Monad lives an acts in and through the
plane of the MATERIAL evolution and progression.
==========================================
(c) The ancients represented it by a serpent, for "Fohat hisses
as he glides hither and thither" (in zigzags). The Kabala figures
it with the Hebrew letter Teth [[Hebrew]], whose symbol is the
serpent which played such a prominent part in the Mysteries. Its
universal value is nine, for it is the ninth letter of the
alphabet and the ninth door of the fifty portals or gateways that
lead to the concealed mysteries of being. It is the magical agent
par excellence, and designates in Hermetic philosophy "Life
infused into primordial matter," the essence that composes all
things, and the spirit that determines their form.
============================================
DTB The number 9 also symbolizes the complete 10 -- as it
conceals as well as synthesizes it.
Nine is represented geometrically by 3 x 3 or 3 equilateral
triangles -- implied is the 4th triangle (or the base -- in
SPIRITUAL NATURE) The 4 triangles form the first regular solid
( outside of the SPHERE. -- the TETRAGON.
So we have 1 -- 3 -- 4 -- 10 -- 12 in various
relationships.
The Occultist will know how to arrange these based on the way in
which the information is recorded for him to study.
The 22 cards of the TAROT, (as an example) [ Isis I 462, II
235; H P B Art. I 317, 510; III 143fn ; Theosophist VI,
Supp. for Oct 1884 ]
are a blind for 7 x 3 + 1 = 22.
But we know that the medieval Adepts concealed their wisdom under
various "blinds" [ ISIS UNVEILED I 317, II 511]
We also know that the 7 x 7 = 49 planes and sub-planes of 7-fold
Nature are concealed in the "blind" 50 ( 49 + 1 = 50 )
=================================================
But there are two secret Hermetical operations, one spiritual,
the other material-correlative, and for ever united. "Thou shalt
separate the earth from the fire, the subtile from the solid . .
. that which ascends from earth to heaven and descends again from
heaven to earth. It (the subtile light), is the strong force of
every force, for it conquers every subtile thing and penetrates
into every solid. Thus was the world formed" (Hermes).
It was not Zeno alone, the founder of the Stoics, who taught that
the Universe evolves, when its primary substance is transformed
from the state of fire into that of air, then into water, etc.
Heracleitus of Ephesus maintained that the one principle that
underlies all phenomena in Nature is fire. The intelligence that
moves the Universe is fire, and fires is intelligence. And while
Anaximenes said the same of air, and Thales of Miletus (600 years
B.C.) of water,
===========================================
DTB Note:
the ESOTERIC DOCTRINE RECONCILES ALL THOSE PHILOSOPHERS BY
SHOWING THAT THOUGH EACH WAS RIGHT THE SYSTEM OF NONE WAS
COMPLETE.
=======================================================
[[Footnote(s)]] -------------------------------------------------
* See next note.
** Od is the pure life-giving Light, or magnetic fluid; Ob the
messenger of death used by the sorcerers, the nefarious evil
fluid; Aour is the synthesis of the two, Astral Light proper. Can
the Philologists tell why Od -- a term used by Reichenbach to
denominate the vital fluid -- is also a Tibetan word meaning
light, brightness, radiancy? It equally means "Sky" in an occult
sense. Whence the root of the word? But Akasa is not quite Ether,
but far higher than that, as will be shown.
=========================================
DTB These words ought to be looked up in the S D INDEX as well as
the Theos. Glossary
There are equivalents to them in every one of the old systems.
"Light of Shekinah." "Noor of Allah." "LIGHT ON THE PATH "
"The ALL CONSUMING FIRE of the EYE OF SHIVA," "Light of
sia" -- all use the word light to imply the purification of
DIVINE FIRE which reduces gross matter to its primordial pure
state: BUDDHI.
Consider that the ONE PRINCIPLE -- ATMA -- has 6 aspects, the
highest of which is BUDDHI ( as vehicle) -- see GAYATRI -- the
whole purpose of the UNIVERSAL EXISTENCE is to give to SPIRIT the
power to see and to know itself ( Patanjali pp 24, 25 ) This
implies that the "lower principles are limitations of a
progressive type so that out of the generally undifferentiated
and diffused MONADIC ESSENCE == the Monads that emerge are given
the widest course of evolution to work in and through. But
finally when all is experienced, the victorious Monad (like the
victorious disciple) emerges purified from his pilgrimage -- and
in the process HAS HELPED AND SUCCORED INNUMERABLE OTHER MONADS
who are every one of them his BROTHERS.
This gives profounder meaning th the ideal: UNIVERSAL
BROTHERHOOD - as it implies, not only intellectual understanding,
but practical work at the lowest levels (our Earth is an example)
where the greatest spiritual strength is needed, and has to be
developed by the pupil / chela so as to become victorious over
gross as well as refined NATURE as a whole. Thus the grades of
great Rishis, Budhas, Dhyanis, etc. are graded expressions used
t designate the progressive success of the Monads as they devise
the self-induced ways and means that take them ever forward to
become fully UNIVERSALIZED and IMPERSONALIZED.
The forms ever change and spiral upward (as intelligence and
cooperation) to the light of the MIND, and from then, their
struggle intensifies as they now have to increasingly bear the
weight of the whole of the UNIVERSE in its progression.
IT is them, They are IT. This is the LIGHT ON THE PATH : OF
UNIVERSAL TRUTH.

Subject: [bn-sd] Stanza III Sloka 7 part 'c'
Friends,
Here is the final part of the commentary for Sloka 7 - commentary
'c'. I
have included the last paragraph from commentary 'b' as this is
an important
lead into this passage.
There are a number of important ideas to consider, two of which
are:
- the nature of primordial Akasa (symbolised by 'Father-Mather',
FIRE, the
ONE ELEMENT).
- the nature of FOHAT (symbolised by the Serpent) ... that force
which
differentiates the One Cosmic homogenous substance (Akasa) and
which action
is referred to as 'the evolution of the Universe'.
Would anyone like to offer comments on these?
Any other comments on our study passage below?
best wishes for the New Year,
