Subject: essence of evil.

-------------------------------------

Dear Dallas,

Thanks for your explanation, it awakes in me further questions!

We have a choice between good and evil. How is it possible according to
Blavatsky(and that is not exactly the same as according to theosophy by the
way) that the person as part of the monad chooses often evil?

===================================

DTB I will try to answer your questions but would first recommend that
you procure a copy of the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) and read it carefully.
You can get it to read or download through http://www.blavatsky.net I use
it all the time as it provides the basis that Theosophy offers to all of us
for solving such problems.

A study of Theosophy restores to normal the picture we may have of a
harmonious and protective Universe in which we play a trusted part as a
cooperative, but independent entity having the same ideals and objectives.
This is the basis for UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD, and it can be proved and
demonstrated.

DTB The divine MONAD ( ATMA-BUDHI) is an ETERNAL BEING. It incarnates
into “Matter” to assist the “monads of lesser experience” which constitute
matter to ascend in knowledge and eventually to become each one as wise as
it is. It is a vast and a universal chain of assistance that works
perpetually. Our condition as a Monad that has had its Mind faculty
awakened, is similar to that of any child in a family in early years as it
learns and acquires a personality and then an individuality of its own.

We are an Immortal Monad which has become endowed through evolution with the
MIND faculty which is both a blessing and a curse. As a blessing, it
enables us to perceive the IDEAL, and the TRUE as universal Verities -- as
VIRTUES. These can be proved and demonstrated.

On the other hand the same Immortal Monad/ Mind enables us to look backward
towards our beginnings in the distant past and perceive our struggles to
rise through ignorance and selfishness to become individualized and aspire
(now), to become SPIRITUAL ( like the divine ATMA BUDDHI -- MONAD) in us is.

The whole puzzle resolves itself into the active mental state we are in.
The great questions that confronts the whole of humanity as individuals is:
Shall we become wise and universal, or shall we remain foolish and selfish ?

You have to become familiar with the 7-fold constitution of Man as taught in
the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) then the explanation becomes easy for you to
unravel for yourself. Go to http://www.blavatsky.net and read or download
on to your hard drive the book there. It gives the answers. The study and
work has to be yours or, you are taking the word of another without
verification. This is dangerous, because we ought to acquire the faculty of
independence, within reasonable limits, as implied in the incarnation of an
IDEAL individual in present circumstances. If we find the present
circumstances distasteful and confusing in part, we have to seek for the
causes. Only an immortal Monad -- ourselves -- can do that.

====================================

You say that somewhere along the line the breaking of law became a matter of
deliberation and a selfish pleasure for perverted beings. What could
possibly have caused this? (the existence of perverted beings and normal
beings who sometimes choose evil.)

======================================

DTB I said that each has a choice and the capacity to see ones’ self as
either a potential GOD and use the WISDOM of the Universe to make choices
that would be virtuous. Or, one could choose to remain a selfish, isolated
ignoramus. The choices in that case would be vicious.

I said NATURE had long ago established with the most intricate, sensitive
and marvelous accuracy a set of LAWS, which promoted the evolution of all
beings -- of all levels of monads, providing that they cooperated always on
the basis of spiritual virtues.

If we deliberately break these laws we create EVIL. Evil doers are those
who pervert the TRUE.

You ask what causes this. Fundamentally it is our own selfishness, when we
pit our lower and selfish desires and pleasures against the harmony of the
rest of the Universe. Those who choose vice, even the slightest, do this
almost daily and do no realize it. Our whole environment has become one in
which the attempt of Nature to rectify and adjust these abnormal conditions
and restore harmony and spirituality as NORMS is in operation.

We ought to view ourselves as members of the FAMILY OF MAN -- the sense of
brotherhood that arises, then obliterates the word “stranger.” everyone
becomes a relative. And who makes victims of relatives unless a very
perverted being?

=======================================

You say many oppose the Law because out of fear. What could have caused this
'not knowing' (can't find the right English word!) that their freedom will
not be at stake.

===================================

DTB I have always found that the answers are inside my own mind, memory
and experience. One has to take a little time to think over and rediscover
the IDEAL way to act. The lives of all truly GREAT MEN and WOMEN reveal to
us that they knew these IDEALS, and that they tried to live lives that would
mirror those ideals. We also can do that. But first we ought to make sure
that there are IDEAL laws in Nature, and that they are reasonable in their
impartiality and universality.

The knowledge of TRUTH gets rid of IGNORANCE.

Best wishes,

Dallas

===================================

I am looking forward to your or others new answers which I am sure will
enlighten me more but will awaken also still more questions in me.
With friendly greeting:*Andy*
