Turiya is a Sanskrit word which means "the fourth."
It is described as "undifferentiated consciousness of
bliss" and everyone theoretically experiences it every
night, but forgets it while passing through the state
of dreamless sleep to return to the dream state and
then to the waking state. Bear in mind these are not
my personal opinions but merely what is taught.

She almost certainly was referring to Eduard von
Hartmann's book THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE UNCONSCIOUS, but
the idea of an ineffable Absolute is also found in
Eastern philosophy. It is not clear whether in the
East the Absolute was considered to be unconscious. I
remember a passage in one of the Upanishads in which
it was said of the Maha Pralaya: "The universe was
asleep, only He [God] was awake." Of course,
different schools could have promulgated different
views of the thing.
