Dear Brigitte et alli:

VERBATIM means to me that the material has been reprinted using
a typeset other than the ORIGINAL (if were photo-copied it would
be verbatim beyond doubt). If it is reproduced using new types
the editors have to make sure that there are no proof reading
errors.

Dan Caldwell and I have been back and forth over this
periodically and a record of our views is available in his
archives. In some cases they differ.

What I am trying t say is that students ought to be able to get
back as close as possible to the ORIGINAL TEXTS, if photo-copies
are not available.

After H P B's death, I have seen that too many of the reprints of
H.P.Blavatsky's works were altered without notes by various
editors (after her death.) It's the same thing with ancient
texts from any source. How do we know if the material offered is
PER ORIGINAL ?

Hope this clears up all I've tried to say at various times.

Best wishes,

Dallas

PS

I do not intend to participate in a debate over these matters
again. Nothing is gained thereby that I know. I believe that
providing accurate information to future students is important
and if any book requires additional precision it ought to be
done.

D.

To Brigitte and other interested persons:

Subject: What did Dallas Tenbroeck really mean by using the word
"verbatim"?
