Dear Peter:

You write we are to focus this week on: S D I 64. It reads:

STANZA III. -- Continued.

S D
2. "DARKNESS" RADIATES LIGHT, AND LIGHT DROPS ONE SOLITARY RAY
INTO THE
WATERS, INTO THE MOTHER DEEP.

THE RAY SHOOTS THROUGH THE VIRGIN-EGG; THE RAY CAUSES THE ETERNAL
EGG TO THRILL, AND DROP THE NON-ETERNAL (periodical) GERM, WHICH
CONDENSES INTO THE WORLD EGG (a).

S D
(a) The solitary ray dropping into the mother deep may be taken
as meaning Divine Thought or Intelligence, impregnating chaos.
This, however, occurs on the plane of metaphysical abstraction,
or rather the plane whereon that which we call a metaphysical
abstraction is a reality.

DTB	All Manifestation begins with a quality of MIND which is able
to understand and guide the processes that ensue. We may take
this to mean the Lodge of the TRULY GREAT ADEPTS -- the "flower"
of far earlier Humanities.

It seems we are dealing with a condition relating to the still
UNMANIFESTED LOGOS, but "within" it, stirrings begin to create
those foci where the Karma of the past Universe attract to
themselves the Monads (and their individual Karma), which allow
for the re-formation of the 10 and 7 planes on which
manifestation will reoccur [ see SECRET DOCTRINE I 200
diagram ]. Every "star" or "World" has its guiding DHYAN CHOHAN,
whose wisdom acts as supervisor for Nature's formative processes
as the forms that will be necessary for the incarnation of
INDIVIDUAL MINDS must proceed for the first half of the
evolutionary process. (Natural Impulse).

S D
The Virgin-egg being in one sense abstract Egg-ness, or the power
of becoming developed through fecundation, is eternal and for
ever the same.

DTB	When fecundation is spoken of one has the UNIVERSAL MONAD in
mind as a metaphysical necessity where in the Polar grouping of:
of the immutable ONE SPIRIT in manifestation, which is
continually confronted by its polar opposite: PRIMORDIAL
ROOT-MATTER (which is really an aspect of itself; ( that has
chosen to serve as a kind of mirror, which will reflect and
transmit the WHOLENESS of the ONE ABSOLUTENESS, and its
emanation, the SPIRIT IN MANIFESTATION -- into the ever-present
MIND -- THE INTELLIGENCE (MAHAT) of the Universe that is about to
reopen). Without MAHAT (the UNIVERSAL MIND) the planning
cannot take place. For Planning and Building the Great 7
COSMOCRATORES are needed. [see S D I 570-575] 7-Fold Nature
then unfolds and all individual Monads take their appropriate
places

S D
And just as the fecundation of an egg takes place before it is
dropped; so the non-eternal periodical germ which becomes later
in symbolism the mundane egg, contains in itself, when it emerges
from the said symbol, "the promise and potency" of all the
Universe. Though the idea per se is, of course, an abstraction, a
symbolical mode of expression, it is a symbol truly, as it
suggests the idea of infinity as an endless circle.

S D
It brings before the mind's eye the picture of Kosmos emerging
from and in boundless space, a Universe as shoreless in magnitude
if not as endless in its objective manifestation. The simile of
an egg also expresses the fact taught in Occultism that the
primordial form of everything manifested, from atom to globe,
from man to angel, is spheroidal, the sphere having been with all
nations the emblem of eternity and infinity -- a serpent
swallowing its tail.

DTB	In the Symbol/Glyph used by the THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY, this is
the "Serpent of Eternity" whose mouth swallows its tail and
surrounds the whole Symbol.

S D
To realize the meaning, however, the sphere must be thought of as
seen from its centre. The field of vision or of thought is like a
sphere whose radii proceed from one's self in every direction,
and extend out into space, opening up boundless vistas all
around. It is the symbolical circle of Pascal and the Kabalists,
"whose centre is everywhere and circumference nowhere," a
conception which enters
into the compound idea of this emblem.

DTB	This can be expressed by the concept that each human Mind is
at the center of its mental sphere of sensitive vision. Its
sphere is only limited by its power of thinking. Some limit this
to this incarnation and others with wider capacities conceive the
visible Universe and particularly our world, or the Solar system
to be the limits of their sphere. In truth it is unlimited in
time, space and motion.

Best wishes,

Dallas
