Dear Mic:
If you can access The SECRET DOCTRINE you will find H.P.Blavatsky
explains it in great detail.
Briefly, there have been many periods of Evolution and
Manifestation. Our Universe is the latest of a long series.
The ESSENCE is always the immutable and unchanging SPIRIT.
Experience in matter, causes the addition of memory of the
results of choices.
This is the universal MEMORY -- called AKASA. Nothing is left
out.
As a contrast to SPIRIT is PRIMORDIAL MATTER.
Thus the MONAD out of manifestation is THE ABSOLUTE SPIRIT
The MONAD in manifestation is a duality of SPIRIT and MATTER
(actually wise matter or BUDDHI) In short ATMA-BUDDHI is the
MONAD.
But as this explains very little the following is to be
considered.
But there are many grades, states and kinds of matter, and there
has to be something that stands neutral, between SPIRIT and
MATTER in manifestation to observe the continuous interplay of
these two as time and evolution proceed in billions of sensitive
Monads everywhere.
It (this Observer, or Perceiver) is also part of the MONAD. It
is MIND in its purest, highest aspect Where does it originate?
It is a portion of ABSOLUTE CONSCIOUSNESS which, while remaining
"out of manifestation," yet is a conjoined and inevitable party
to all experience. [ This is pure metaphysics, and can only be
viewed and understood by the highest aspect our innate MINDS. ]
The MONAD is spiritual as contrasted with the personal nature in
which we each live -- and consider as our emotions, feelings,
thoughts and sensitive personality. We are in this all the time.
Occasionally we wonder why?
The result if pursued becomes the study of theosophy which
provides answers to all these many questions.
Perhaps the best book to approach this study is the KEY TO
THEOSOPHY (HPB)
Best wishes,
Dallas
