Dear Doss:
Excuse the delay in answering. Some of your questions have been
answered in earlier postings by me and others.
Positively NO FEES or COLLECTIONS has ALWAYS been the U.L.T.
policy.
Wisdom cannot be bought. Nor can it be taught in the ordinary
accepted way of holding "classes." Wisdom is always
self-acquired.
It consists of several steps attuned to the self devised wishes
of the student.
Wisdom pertains to the actual study of nature and not to theories
or hypotheses concerning the possible causes that might be
correct.
THEOSOPHY is a condensed statement of the basic and fundamental
concepts of the way in which NATURE works, and each student /
seeker advances in his search for these facts at the rate and in
the areas that he chooses for himself.
If you look back over your own experience as a student and then
an adult making a living for his family, you will find that every
step you made has been self-chosen. You opened doors to
knowledge(or closed them) depending on your natural inclinations
or your on self discipline, and the choices you made. It is true
that one allows ones' self to be "influenced." But ultimately
the choices are our own. No one can be in truth blamed for our
errors of judgment, if any.
The DECLARATION of the U.L.T. makes this amply clear.
Best wishes,
Dal

Subject: U.L.T. Meetings and Money as Fees ? Are there any ?
Dear Dallas:
When ULT has a meeting or a program, does it charge an admission
fee either
for associates or for non associates ?
DTB NO CHARGES OF ANY KIND ARE EVER MADE.
EVERYTHING AT THE U.L.T. IS PROVIDED TO STUDENTS FREE OF CHARGE.
ONLY THE BOOKS, PAMPHLETS AND MAGAZINES ARE CHARGED FOR (and even
then when someone needs they are given freely) The charge made
is nominal to defray the cost of replacement - so a new copy can
be printed and made ready for a new inquirer / student.
In every theosophical & Krishnamurti program or lectures I
attended in
India, I never paid any admission or other fee nor did they pass
around a
plate making collection. I found it is different and almost
exactly
opposite in the USA. (That's why I like the maillists - which are
free!!!)
DTB I too, was shocked to discover this and cannot condone the
practice.
See above, my comments. Money and philosophy do not mix well.
Wisdom is always available in time to those who desire and
sacrifice to obtain it.
Best wishes as always,
Dallas.
