Dear Friends:

Does LEGALITY imitate KARMA ?

I really do not know why the external arrangements in various
countries, for "legal" matters, are set up the way they are. In
one aspect every one of us has the same values in terms of the
advice we get from our HIGHER SELF ( a "Ray" of the UNIVERSAL
SELF) through the voice of Conscience and Intuition.

Perhaps some men, in heeding this urge, try to imitate Nature,
and they dimly sense the way in which Karma works. But the
problem of retaliation and revenge (which spring from Kama --
"passion and desire") usually cloud the issue. In many courts
there is the public flaying of an individual so as to reveal
his/her inner decision processes in the past. Not many profit
from that terrible exercise which holds up the naked KAMA of a
human being to public view (in some cases). Few have the
humility to realize that their inattention and lack of control
permitted some terrible lapse to occur, and for which they now
are forced to pay publicly.

But they (in the constitutions of various countries) are not
able to do it impartially as Karma does, and take every possible
ramification of effect (resultant from choice) into account.
KARMA and NATURE are UNIVERSALLY SENSITIVE. The Law Courts are
not able to provide that, or they would proceed differently.

One fact is clear: Right now, all of us, are the end result of
all we have done, thought and felt up to this instant. We are,
so to speak, as immortals, the end product of our KARMA working
on us. Our constitution, starting with the HIGHER SELF, is based
on the UNIVERSAL and the IMPERSONAL IMPERISHABLE ALL. Our Lower
Self (Kama-Manas) is that which is under training. It makes
mistakes. There are few countries in which crimes are viewed as
mistakes, and lapses of control of the HIGHER over the Lower
MANAS. Fewer still those who realize that KAMA (desire and
passion) (our beloved Personalities) can be our most subtle
enemies.

The purpose of living is to enable the MONAD ( ATMA-BUDDHI) to
attain SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS.

To attain this every "Principle" below the MONAD
(Atma-Buddhi-Manas) has to firmly known and controlled by the
REAL MAN -- and that is the HIGHER SELF.

Manas has to become independent, as it is only through the FIRE
of experience that its consciousness becomes ultimately the
Universal KNOWLEDGE (Keval-Gnyan) that is COMPASSIONATE. And
that is acquired by making decisions. We cannot claim that we
were "influenced", or that "someone else" is responsible -- using
parentage and heredity as an excuse -- for our poor choices. Do
we then, give credit to our ancestry for the good choices and the
wise deeds we do? Or do we take that as "due to us" and thus
increase our self-adulation and pride?

In other words WE become (when ultimately purified of any
selfishness or desire) the pure embodiments of KARMA. It is
only then that Nature will accept us as her SERVANTS and trust us
to be true. In the VOICE OF THE SILENCE "she makes obeisance."

We learn ultimately to be able to watch Nature in action on any
plane, visible or invisible and will be able to see all the
threads of Karma that link the past of any individual being to
its PRESENT. It is but one step further to be able to see how
all those established Karmic threads lead into the structures and
time-cycles of the future. In the MAHATMA LETTERS there is a
passage concerning the Maha-Chohan which says "before whom the
Future stands as an open book."

This life of ours, the present, is not amusement, it is a serious
and an important matter -- and we ought to apply the hint to
ourselves and our progress, as well as to what we may be able to
CHOOSE to DO for the Theosophical Movement of our present.

Are we discharging all our responsibilities in regard to it and
the rest of humanity that "is to come?" What can we do that adds
to that impulse? Why are we born into the present
circumstances? What are our highest duties? Do we know
ourselves, I mean, our Lower selves and or Personalities? Do we
approve of them?

These are the thoughts that occur to me, on reading this.

Best wishes,

Dallas

I agree, but I still wonder why do "the law", "the enforcers" or
"the
judges" exist? Surely they can have no clue what's REALLY going
on
"behind the stage"?
