Can anyone help? This is a phrase that I have
often heard as one of the aims of the Theosophical Movement--most often repeated
by those in the Point Loma tradition. The idea is that "stemming the
tide of materialism" is one of the purposes for founding the Theosophical
Society in 1875. Does anyone know of any statements made by Blavatskyor
Olcott before 1891 to this effect? I'm aware of many statements by
Blavatsky about the evils of materialism, but no statements about fighting
it as being an aim of the movement. Perhaps Judge made such a
statement?
Thanks
