Dallas offers:

Sometimes wise persons of the past have said things in a very
striking or appropriate manner.

For a person who quotes to do good they have to be wise in the
selection of the quotes.

Those who read need also to participate to see if the quotation
is appropriate and gives a depth to the subject being co-studied.

Any one who has tried to secure a higher degree at a University
is aware of these things as study to be demonstrated is not only
the power of their own thinking and reasoning, but tier ability
to select appropriate bases from which those who desire to grasp
their system of developing thought may also recognize or
challenge as needed.

The only ones who may feel offended by quotations ay be the ones
who need most to study, and having done that, meditate over the
statements culled and develop their own point of view, either in
support or in opposition of the bases discovered and used.

At least that is how I think about it.

Let's look at THEOSOPHY. Those who OFFERED it to us did so to
assist us, and for no other reason. As presented and several
times described by H.P.B. it is HISTORY . It relates to the
development of all beings and of mankind particularly. It
emphasizes that all living beings have a continuous SPIRITUAL and
MENTAL intelligence; and that persists through reincarnation and
reembodiment until every being has perfected the latent faculties
he has innately.

To maintain equity in this process the whole Universe and our
Earth has developed over aeons of time interactive rules of
living and cooperation. These are equal for all and play no
favorites. Taken as a whole this is the universal LAW OF KARMA.
Of course each Life-atom (Monad) develops its own Karma and as an
entity it is as old as the Universe is.

The goal of evolution is for all MONADS which at present may be
in the mineral, animal, vegetable stages of progress is to
acquire Self-consciousness and enter the human stage. Humanity,
having become self-conscious in its unity. Freedom of choice (A
Mind faculty) permits each Individual to choose their own rate of
progress towards a GOAL which has been described in general terms
as UNIVERSAL SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS when, so to say, it acquires the
faculty of harmlessly serving all other beings in the grand and
noble spirit of universal BROTHERHOOD. This is sublime
SELF-sacrifice, and an illustration of this will be found in THE
SECRET DOCTRINE Vol. I pp 207210.

Less experience, more quoting. More experience, less quoting. But
why
I quote others and not myself? Probably I fear to talk about
myself,
because...

a) ...that would be pride and sin. And the guys who I like to
quote,
didn't talk about themselves much. That quiescense must made them
spiritual superheros, just like what I want to be. So I follow
their
footsteps and hope to find something that they found.

b) ...others may think that I am an impure personality and not an
Angelic Universal Soul or Avatar, if I continously babble about
MY
little things and stuff. I might reveal them myself and what I
really
am! They might not then love me, and leave me all alone...

c) ...none can say bad things about the messanger. Even when I
talk
things that are not true, I am safe. It was the quoted guy who
actually was wrong. So don't blame me, pretty please...?

d) ...I really know what I'm doing! Don't even try to question my
right to quote! Who ARE you really to talk like that? $&¤%#(")#??
