Dear Friend:
In regard to the questions you ask at the end of your posting I
would try to give you a helpful (I hope) survey of what you can
do and what is already available publicly to all of us.
H.P.B. and Mr. Judge in regard to some of the "Siddhis" appearing
as faculties in this incarnation refers to them as having been
developed in past life study and exercise in control of the
psychic nature (Kama and the Astral body).
She strongly recommends NOT PRACTICING THEM until one is in FULL
CONTROL
of one's psychic nature. Also she adds they ought never to be
publicly revealed to others.
One problem we all have is identifying the MIND (MANAS) from the
EMOTION principle (KAMA). Although very closely allied in this
cycle, the MIND and the FEELING natures are separate. Both of
these are TOOLS.
The INNER MAN (ATMS-BUDDHI-MANAS) is the Witness, the Controller,
the DOER. It exercises FEE-WILL AND FREE CHOICE. Before it stand
two Paths: One of VIRTUE (or obeying the laws of cooperation,
friendliness and BROTHERHOOD); and the second, of VICE (where our
independence is used to try to break, conceal and debase
ourselves and others in defiance of Natures harmonious and
cooperative LAWS (KARMA). This concept is not often dwelt on,
but it is very real, even if unpleasant.
Our problem, generally, is that we know so little about our inner
selves. THE KEY TO THEOSOPHY by H.P.B and THE OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY
by W.Q.Judge offer us the basis and foundation of such inner
research. They do this THEORETICALLY and not PRACTICALLY, and
offer no manuals for the DEVELOPMENT of any extraordinary psychic
faculty we may have from birth, or by gradual development as the
years go by.
It is possible that our curiosity may develop in us a sense of
"dare" -- of "courage to test the unknown." This is indeed a
dangerous condition and deserves consideration and great
wariness.
Shall we advance? Shall we wait? Shall we observe? Shall we
acquire what information we can, so that we are better advised if
we desire to make a choice? Why not gather what we can from the
advice offered to us by H.P.B. and W.Q.J. ? If we agree to the
first concept : that we are ETERNAL PILGRIMS pursuing the Path of
life that leads to the ULTIMATE GOAL, incarnations after
incarnation of living, learning and careful evolution, then we
need great patience, attention and bend all our mental faculties
to learning the theory behind the practice. Would one place a
child in a powder factory? Or does one place a well qualified
chemist ?
In other words, as I see it, they recommend the slow and lengthy
"Path" of self-purification and a constant pressure on one's
"Lower Self" of ethical and virtuous living. They especially
recommend that we do not "dabble" in developing any psychic
faculties, or display them to the bewilderment of others.
Read through ISIS UNVEILED by H.P.B. if you would see how these
criteria are emphasized. In short, one has to take on the
disciplines of the Adept, and of the Adept's "chela," if one
would ascend without fear or inimical results to others, and
especially to those who are n ear and dear to us.
I do not know if you are familiar with Bulwer-Lytton's ZANONI or
his other book: A STRANGE STORY. Both, but especially the 2nd
will give you an idea of the "warnings" and "cautions" to be
used.
If you wish to go further, then read the chapters 2, 4, 5, 6, 16
and 17 of Mr. Judge's THE OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY (available trough
BLAVATSKY.NET) this will give you an idea of the range and
diversity of "Psychic Phenomena."
Further still and there are articles one can access through
BLAVATSKY NET on the subject. Let me know if interested and I
will send you a list. All these are open to anyone who is
interested.
Best wishes,
Dallas

So what do you do if you observe some of the Siddhis manefesting
in
your current life, when you have never tried to develop them?
If you have some, what significance does it have?
