To all: (without offense to anyone in particular.)
I have a comment to make regarding the below and similar letters to this
forum.
This is not a party line, nor a private discussion group. Responses to
thpughts and ideas of others that have nothing to add to the discussion of
theosophy, or contributes other information that clarifies or adds valuable
information that may augment our knowledge and wisdom -- which is all this
forum should be about -- are ego trips that do nothing other than clogging
the Internet, filling our mailboxes with gratuitous junk, and wasting our
collective time -- which could be better spent in reading and answering
worthwhile mail.
My suggestions (which I intend to follow, myself) are that: Whoever persists
in this type of gratuitous mailing, should have all their subsequent letters
deleted by all serious theosophical thinkers immediately upon receipt. And,
for those who feel the need to make such gratuitous comments that have no
meaning to anyone except the addressee, it might be a helpful contribution to
this group if you send such mail directly to the person responding to --
without burdening he rest of us with such egoistic junk mail. (If, however,
you have some useful comment to make for the benefit of the discussion group
in response to a previous mailing, there's no reason why you shouldn't
include your personal comments to the writer along with it.) It's also a
good idea to respond to particular statements or commentaries qouoted
selectively -- without constantly quoting the entire chain of previous
mailings on a particular thread -- which, besides loading our mailboxes and
sometimes requiring the downloading of Mime files, make it difficult for
researchers to search the online archives.
