do not know if this will be any help but I offer it-In "Buddhism
and the
Science of Life" 2nd edition 1928 Peking by Alice Leighton Cleather
between pages 70 & 71 is found the representation of the Seal and
"Gurada Crest" of the Tashi Lama of Tibet. As the explanation
relates
to the "AUM" I relate here is printed on the onion sheet itself.

"The Tashi Lama's Gurada emblem and seal are reproduced by
permission from a letter and a document in our possession. The
monogram on both is the All Powerful Ten (Tib. Nam-c' u-van-dan),
the letters being O,U,H,K,S,M,L,V,R,Y. The Seal bears on either
side of it in Indian characters the word Mangalam (Tibetan Bkra-
shis, pr. Tashi) meaning Blessing or Benediction. The Chinese
characters on either side of the Garuda's tail stand for "Symbol
of Panchen Rimpoche". This symbolic creature half-man, half-bird,
is the Kyang or Phoenix of Tibetan Mythology, the emblem of cyclic
and periodic time, and especially of the Maha Kalpa. It is the Great
Bird
of the mystic treatiseswhich is "the AUM throughout eternal ages"
(Voice of the Silence p. 5), and is also the vehical of Vishnu and
Krishna
in the Hindu mythology. Here it represents Panchen Rimpoche' as the
incarnation of the Dhyani Buddha Amitabha, while the serpent in it's
beak is the symbol of an Initiate (Naga) . The Garuda Yantra Charm
is highly esteemed in Tibet , where it is also known as nam-K'ah-ldin
or "Sky-Soarer" and in Chinese as Lei-Gung or Genie of Thunder
who is the agent of Karmic vengence (Nemesis) on criminals. The
American Indian Thunderbird is obviously the same symbol."

      end quotation

Alice Leighton Cleather was jioned in this work by the commentary
     of Basil Crump.
They were both menebrs of the Peking Lodge of Theosophy.
