Theos-World RE: [bn-basic] Where will Theosophy fit in? How do modern discoveries fit into ancient WISDOM?

Dallas agrees that to name or classify a thing is not to KNOW it.
In my opinion and as I believe Theosophy directs to observe, we
may say this also:
Wisdom includes all that is affected by any event, either the
result of past Karma, or the generation of fresh causes, isn't
it? Each human is an independent generator, we are taught.
How do we start or continue things with wisdom? Where can such
wisdom be obtained? What are its fundamentals?
Theosophy only claims to be a statement of the operation of LAWS
IN NATURE. It does not entitle anyone to make personal claims of
any kind. At best one may only indicate the way or path they
found valuable, and ask others to verify its usefulness. There
is no special position reserved for anyone who uncovers a deeper
layer of cause/effect. Nature is always in advance of us, and
contains everything. All our discoveries have some moral
implication in the realms of cooperation, brotherhood and
harmlessness. We have to discover these areas and deepen our
grasp on using them. Our awareness makes for a beginning.

To know anything and understand its cooperative presence in Life
and Nature, one has to know its source of their origin, as well
as their functions: start, continuation and final effects. To
name and note them is not enough.

If we start only with the central condition, we neglect Karma
(the START, and then the potential results that ensue from its
presence and the way in which it is dealt with by other
intelligences.

To truly THINK one has to be able to investigate sources.

To limit these to the purely physical world which our science
using material instruments alone can investigate is to see only a
small part of the continuity of anything.

Take the present discoveries, just described, and made public: I
mean the apparent breaking of the light-speed barrier, and the
discovery announced of the "TAU NUTRINO" -- assumed to be a new
perspective on fundamental views of our condition in nature. I
note that it is claimed that this is "the last of 12 basic
particles." Does this mean, perhaps a closer approach to the
"astral light?" Does it begin to open the door to the subtle
elctro-magnetic links in matter that are the bonds of Karma ? I
would be interested in hearing something along that order.

In LUCIFER for March 1888, HPB wrote footnotes to a valuable
article named THE LIFE PRINCIPLE. (ULT HPB Articles, Vol. II, p.
257-263, B-CW, Vol. 9, p. 72). One may find there some useful
and suggestive notes and explanations in regard to this
discovery. HPB's footnotes are particularly important.
Also one ought to read in this connection another of HPB's
articles: TRANSMIGRATION OF THE LIFE ATOMS ( ULT, HPB Articles,
Vol. II p. 249-256, THEOSOPHIST, July/August 1883 -- FIVE YEARS
OF THEOSOPHY p. 338 )

These may be facts that our scientific instrumentation gives us
an insight into -- a further refinement of the PHYSICAL side of
existing nature. But we are also encouraged by Theosophy to look
into the moral, ethical, karmic side.

They have been there all the time, but we were unaware of them.
What has changed? Only the ability to name certain PHENOMENA,
and show that these are basic to grosser events. We show that
NATURE, in her wisdom, has depths that open only gradually to our
perception. We discover and discard the covers of our own
ignorance as we progress. The real wonder is the integration and
ultimate refinement to the enormously small aspects of vast
Nature. Our range of perception is somewhere in the middle. We
see the vastness and order of the UNIVERSE -- as with the Hubble
telescope. We now see the immensely minute building blocks.
Also they are in order and all cooperate. What then is the
lesson for us to learn?

What needs to be asked is: What MORAL effect does this discovery
reveal? Are we improved in our society and living together by
this? Is tolerance improved? Is racial, political and religious
tolerance enhanced?

Theosophy while advancing information that unifies the various
planes of interactive human life and the power of human will and
thought, always points to the importance of self-control in
regard to the emotional content of our day's living. The
continued impact of these form the future circumstances of our
living -- our Karma to be.

In this connection we find a valuable article in LUCIFER for
November 1888: THE FUNCTION OF ATTENTION IN PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
(ULT ARTICLES & NOTES, p. 153). Also, another good one:
CONSCIOUSNESS, LUCIFER, for October. 1888 (ULT ARTICLES &
NOTES, p. 150)

The value of Theosophical psychology is that it penetrates far
deeper into the causative areas of inter-relationship in Nature
and gives us insight into the potentials of our own personal
development -- which we influence from moment to moment -- as we
(immortal beings made up of THOUGHT), progress and integrate all
the time with the whole of living Nature. We are never alone.

Best wishes,

D. T. B.

Subject: [bn-basic] Where will Theosophy fit in?

The third fundamental indicates that all evolution begins from
within
the higher planes. I can't help but feel that the "engineering"
talked
of is just manipulation. We will never be able to cure disease
this
way. It is only another bandaid that covers the real cause. In
the
first chapter of a book called "The One Straw Evolution" by
Masanobu
Fukuoka. "People think they understand things because they
become
familiar with them. This is only superficial knowledge. It is
the
knowledge of the astronomer who knows the names of the stars, the
botanist who knows the classification of the leaves and flowers,
the
artist who knows the aesthetics of green and red. This is not to
know
nature itself -- the earth and sky, green and red. Astronomer,
botanist and artist have done no more than grasp impressions and
interpret them, each within the vault of his own mind. The more
involved they become with the activity of the intellect, the more
they
set themselves apart and the more difficult it becomes to live
naturally."

He also stated earlier in the book that all the solutions we
create
also create more problems until we get so far from the original
cause
there is no hope for resolution. If all disease begins in the
mind, how
could we possibly get rid of it by changing a few genes. Nature
will
only manifest our flawed thinking in what will be probably worse
than
what we have now.

This book is a wonderful introduction into how to think. We can
leave
out no part of the universe both seen and unseen. We can be very
sure
that behind DNA are greater causes that we know nothing of, yet
we talk
as if we just nailed the whole thing. The science of the day
must
disregard some lives and forms to the benefit of others. This
truly
leaves the application of the three fundamentals of Theosophy, a
long
way off. Laura Gray
