Nevertheless -- according to the Hermetic precept, "as above, so below" -- we 
are currently experiencing a minor Kali Yuga, or the last sub cyclic phase of 
this present minor (but major to those currently living on Earth) 24,000+ odd 
year precessional cycle of Earth's evolution.  

Referring to the cyclic laws and their inherent progressive arithmetic, based 
on the "second fundamental truth" and the information given out in the Book 
of Dzyan... Since the progressive sub-cycles of every major or minor cycle of 
evolution follows the same 4 stages ranging from it's golden to its iron 
sub-sub cycles -- in time periods proportional to 4 + 3 + 2 +1 (= 10, ref: 
Pythagorus) -- during this "dark age" period, many minor initiates, whether 
true or false "prophets" will show up to help some of humanity make the 
transition and get through to the next great cycle... Especially in the last 
years of this minor "dark age" -- when the old minor evolutionary cycle of 
Earth's evolution (of which our accumulated individual evolutions are all an 
integral part) is crossing over into a new astrological period (i.e., Pisces 
to Aquarius).  

Consequently, while none of these public "gurus" can be the "Maitreya" avatar 
predicted to return at the end of the Kali Yuga sub-cycle of the major 
Manvantara cycle, some of them (including the one who's actual name is 
Maitreya) could be helpful to some of mankind in this minor dark age, since 
those they attract to their Ashrams and Sanghas can be assisted in 
transitioning through this difficult phase... That is, if their minds and 
motives can be changed to recognize their spiritual connections to the 
universal soul, and they become Self realized, and imbued with the ideas of 
detachment, compassion and altruism.  

In any event, we can easily recognize these true or false "Prophets," or self 
professed (or otherwise promoted) "Gurus," "Masters," "Adepts," or "Avatars," 
simply by their fruits.  

In my view, It is unlikely that any real Adepts or Masters would ever appear 
publicly (if at all) in such a non-universal guise -- or even be able to 
bring themselves down to this materialistic and darkly sinister level of 
existence. (Although they certainly could reach and guide some of us who have 
acquired their level of spirituality, and are in a position to assist in 
their hidden work.)  I suspect that those so aided would do their work 
quietly without claiming any special position or credentials in the 
hierarchy... And, some of them may or may not be members of any of our 
theosophical lodges or study groups, or any other religious, philosphical or 
scientific organizations.
