RE: Theos-World Response to Leon followed by Peter's original posting on "Thin Oblong Squares".

Dear Leon,

Thank you for at least accepting that my article on HPB's use of the term
"oblong squares" was offered as a sincere attempt to study Theosophy.
This should, in theory, allow a more constructive dialogue than accusing
people of being Jesuit deceivers, something I was sorry to see you write in
one of your mails on this topic.

With regards the term in question, you write:

> I can't see the connection with any "mysterious"
> theosophical teaching. The words "thin oblong square"
> is still a meaningless syntactical, technical and
> grammatical error. However, if you wish to think

First of all, let me reply in kind by saying that of course you are entitled
to view this term as "meaningless", "an obviouse error" and as a
"grammatical error" if that is all you see in it. However, to those
familiar with Occult Symbolism this term may not be seen as an "obvious
error" at all. Nor does HPB "seem" to repeat it a number of times. She
ACTUALLY DOES use the term a number of times (a correct term in the context
of which she uses it) and offers an explanation of *one* of its uses. If
you take the trouble to read the references I offer in my article you will
discover HPB also refers to "Oblong cubes".

You also say:

> However, if there is such a connection (which I cannot
> imagine, except as some sort of science fictional fantasy
> dream:-) I would certainly like to hear your logical or
> intuitive explanation of it.

Actually you can do that by reading the article I posted after the one you
have just replied to below. I did say to you that I was posting the
original article as a follow up mail, but from reading your words above and
the rest of your post it appears you have completely dismissed its value
before you have even read it.

You will also find many references to the term "oblong squares" in the
material that Daniel has just posted.

I hope that after some reflection on the article by myself and Daniel's
references you will find there is indeed something of Theosophical value
therein.

...Peter
