Now THERE'S an attitude we don't come across too often. And a richly
productive one too.
It's little use studying spiritual classics (of any period) if all we are
looking for is ammunition to defend HPB, or bricks to build up our pedestal,
or new locations in which to see Theosophical truths we ALREADY comprehend.
These are for our growth, not Theosophy's reification.
I truly believe we should study spiritual classics EVERY DAY, but not from a
Theosophical perspective. We must read them in their own right, try to
penetrate sometimes very difficult wordings and allusions, APPLY. Only then
can we fairly compare them to our own body of "revealed" teachings.
