Jerry,

I wouldn't want to say what is THE way for someone else.  I think we each
have to find our own way, and no doubt we will journey through many
different approaches before all is said and done.  I would only point out
there are a number of approaches to Meditation, particularly within
Buddhism, that do not include "imagining something".  In fact some would see
the latter as a big obstacle not an aid.   See my earlier post for details.
