In Sanskrit they are "suttas" or "sutras."  In English they can
be called verses, sayings, sutras, aphorisms - just about
anything that makes them appear to be detached statements set in
a connected frame.

Judge' YOGA APHORISMS OF P[Patanjali's are the same as the YOGA
SUTRAS .
