While every single cause has a single effect, in fact there are no
single, separate causes or effects.  Karma and karmic effects are
multiple, even vast in number.  Even predicting with any precision is
left to Buddhas.  This suggests that dependent origination (or karma) is
a Law, but its functioning is chaotic to all but the Buddhas.
