Apology

Nov 18, 1998 04:45 PM
by Darren Porter

To Frank and Dallas,

I would like to publicly apologize for my outburst. Dallas, you are
correct, there is no need to use profanity, especially in the theosophical
context. I am young and impetuous and unfortunately still a subject to my
emotional rulers.

Frank, we may not see eye to eye but that is not reason for me to profane
you on a public list. I hope you can accept this apology and we may
continue our debates in a more civil manner.

Although it is no excuse, the day I wrote it I was in a very emotioanl
state from a variety of personal issues as well as the current world
situation Viz a ziz Malaysia, Iraq and the United States.

I live in constant frustration, becuase I see the world going to hell in a
handbasket. Am I too idealistic? I want to help the world but I really see
no way other than trying to spread information. Theosophy has a great
message for the world, but at the moment it falls on deaf ears.

We need a new political/theosophical social science theory that rejects
capitalism and it's associated cycles of poverty and war. There is enough
resources for every human being in the world to be adequately clothed, fed
and sheltered - all we need do is divert it from war expenditure. War is
manafactured these days by profiteers behind the scenes - we only need to
look at the situation in Iraq, Malaysia and North Korea.

I will voluntarily accept any punishment metered out by my fellow
theosophists, including suspension or expulsion from the list.

Sincerely,

Darren Porter
