An answer could be that all three, HPB, APS and AOH, were not chelas in
training in said time. Rules are for chelas and not for mundane persons or
accomplished chelas. Furthermore smoking was and is not forbidden in the
Eastern School, nevertheless this is a rule of a so-called ES of one TS, but
this was an invention after HPB's time, based of merely half-knowledge. Two
points that could solve the paradox (a paradox is not a contradition).
