> Subject: Entropy
Things either are appearing or
disappearing to our perspective.
That is the nature of the physical
universe from our perspective.
Either we are aware of something
which is there, then it is no longer
there. Enfolding and unfolding.
We can look through microscope, macroscope,
or resonance scanner and no nothing of
what has created substance out of nothing.
We cannot know why the fires which ignited
the universe into being were caused, nor
what underlying facet of the cosmos enables
creatures within it to think, to know, to
transcend time and space, yet human beings
can and often do this very thing.
The probability that this universe of matter
we call home was created out of some timeless
and spaceless quality has entered the realm of
physicists. It is not provable but it is most
certainly discussed among those who ponder such
things.
Perhaps spiritualized phenomena such
as ghosts are merely those things which
have not quite disappeared from our perception.
Perhaps spirits are not entropic in the least.
perhaps their entropy is so imperceptable as to
take the entire life of the universe to dissolve
one iota. Or they are part of the timeless, spaceless
ocean of reality from which all things have sprung.
And the linear perception that things must burn out
is simply false.
I believe that we can train our minds to
resonate with other frequencies ordinarily
invisible to our physical senses. When this
occurs we are suddenly convinced of a peculiar
existence beyond our physical notions of the
universe. Simply we call them spiritual realms,
spirits, or entities, because they act with
self-definition and can perceive in a broader
sense than we can in the physical. So they
say what will happen and it does. They see
inside us and its true. They hear our thoughts
and we are naked. But are they real? Does
entropy affect them?
Entropy may simply be a provable scientific
formula for the role of matter as it unfolds
itself while other energies are enfolding
themselves in invisible states which mind
can resonate with and thereby experience.
Yet entropy is not a model which can give
explanation to what psychism perceives, so,
I think, a new model is necessary to replace it.
Perhaps a triune model which includes borning
things, dying things, all resting upon a constant.
Entropy doesn't explain the psychic perceptions.
It cannot explain precognition, nor seeing
and hearing afterdeath states. Yet some
recent thinkers attempted to create a
new view of the problem of death
by using materialistic arguments to
suggest that a spirit may exist but that
it dies when the body dies. (Castaneda & pals.)
Psychism disagrees. The parts of the psychic
world that can be measured and tested suggest
that entropy is only an aspect of a far greater
picture. If the entire qualitative reality
of the universe is going to die than it is
going to die into a new form or into formlessness
and timelessness.
Rejecting words such as 'Spirit' or 'Afterlife'
a new factual language must seek its own definitions,
which rely on such evidence as science is willing to
conceed. Some kind of formulae which it is content
is its own and not that of the religionist.
A theory like Novelty? A new mathematical equation
for the afterlife? A set of evaluations which
study the universal constants, while entropy
and everything else does their twisted little jig?
Where does something go when it dies, mommy?
What does entropy collapse into?
What comes from the singularity of a black hole?
Nothing?
What is nothing? Is it that "the primordial ground
of all being is the state of realization," as Dzog
Chen practicioners tell us? What is a realized state?
Is consciousness entropic or is consciousnees
evolving or simply becoming lighter? More
evanescent?
Yet sages, seers, saints and sinners who have
experienced states of higher awareness try
to explain that consciousness moves free of
the bodies which contain it. If this isn't
so than we cease. If it is so, then we do not.
Maybe the words 'energy' and 'matter' need to
fall into definition behind words describing
other states of being which do not seem to
be entropic, but which contain, surround and
imbue entropic states.
