I am sure this is quite right.  If one has the propensity and ability to
engage in "third object" investigations, then it is worthwhile to do so -
inevitable, in some ways.  However, the dangers of what is often called
the "lower astral" are real enough inasmuch as they involve us being
able to deceive ourselves.

Even the "upper astral" is not 100% reliable, but a good working
method of interpretation (mostly common sense and self-honesty)
makes it fairly safe.  Serious and experienced investigators will learn to
find a "short-cut" across this deceptive level, after which they may be
able to work with it from a higher level.

Thus I have found.  But I agree with HPB in this sense - if it frightens
you - *stay away* - and if you are totally fearless - stay away!  This
kind of work requires study and above all discipline, especially self-
discipline.
