If you look at the authors and titles offered by
Theosophical University Press and Point Loma
Publications, you'll see perhaps 100 to 200
titles from dozens and dozens of authors. While it's true
that many selections emphasize the core theosophical
doctrines, other areas are covered too, like
general information on reincarnation, mythology,
books for children, Sanskrit, Tibetan Buddhism,
Nordic Mythology, etc. The number of titles is less
than Theosophical Publishing House has because the
amount of money available, and the number of volunteers,
is less.

There is also publishing of authors from other
groups, happening both ways. Point Loma Publications,
for instance, has published some books by G. A. Farthing,
former head of the T.S. in England [Adyar], and
the Theosophical Publishing House has published
books by Point Loma people like L. Gordon Plummer,
Boris de Zirkoff, and Geoffrey Barborka.

There seems to be two efforts underway, both useful
in their own way. One is to preserve, promote, and
present as clearly as possible the core theosophical
philosophy. The other is to explore and celebrate the
diversity of religious and philosophical beliefs to
be found in the world. Each theosophical publisher
has its own formula, its own plan for furthering
these goals.
