The first Theosophical Society was established in 1781 in London by a band of
Swedenborgians and Masons. This is to be found in Albert G. Mackey's
Encyclopedia of Freemasonry (3rd volume, I believe). My books are packed up.
If someone has access to this encyclopedia, it would be interesting to post
what described about the "Swedenborgian" TS.
