Why can't someone who is part of the administration or national speaker take an
independent stand? Will they be fired? If this was a corporation with trade
secrets, or it was trying to conceal from the public, say, that they buy low
grade beef raised at the expense of the rain forest, or that they import
products manufactured with child labor, then I can understand the security. But
as I understand it, the TS is supposed to be a fraternal organization that
represents a philosophy dedicated to promoting "understanding and fellowship
among people of all races, nationalities, philosophies, and religions." At
least that is what it says in "The Theosophical World View." It seems to me
that an organization truly pursuing such ideals, would want continuous dialogue
between all of its staff and members. So why does an organization that promotes
openness and freedom of inquiry need to have its employees march in lock step
and utter nothing lest it be cleared from the top? What is the hidden agenda?
