Bart:

HPB illustrates the fact that the Adepts control the Astral Light and all
the phenomena which can be produced from it.

Mediums are subject to whatever happens to be channeled" through them.
There are degrees and degrees of development and power behind and within
all of us, and we probably couldn't communicate well without all being
partially in touch on the mental and emotional levels through the astral
light -- so to some extent we are also "mediumistic," and are moved by
influences that come subtly and often unasked into our minds.

To the extent that we become aware of this situation and either use or
become subject to those outside "influences" so we develop our own
"attention," our own capacity to direct, control and guide our minds and
our lives.

We are all feeling beings, intensely to some extent to one or more of the
feelings that pervade the atmosphere. theosophy tries (KEY and OCEAN ) to
give us an idea of the range of these, so that we may understand and use
(and not be used by) them. So we are the ones who have to decide whether
we will be "mediums," or "adepts." I find that theosophy is the best
organized and most coherent presentation of such facts in the universe that
seem relevant to understanding and making personal decisions along these
lines.

But, Theosophy has a definite curriculum of study and it is difficult to
deal with questions relating to the "invisible realms" without the students
who are exchanging ideas having read the same material and understood it
more or less well. At least, that has been my observation.

Or, do I misunderstand ? Dallas
