Dear Dallas:
Thank-you for you answer. No I don't have the book you mentioned (Ocean of
Theosophy) but I will remember and try to get it at a library or bookstore.
Re-incarnation makes a lot of sense to me in many, many ways,
It's just (as I said before) the mathematics that obviously stand in the way.
On our earth, all indications are that human population has been scarce
in historic and pre-historic times, in part because the human being is an
extremely fragile creature, affected by weather and diseases much more
than other animals, and as you know, our children are defenseless
even after 10 years into their lifes.
It is only now, because of technology, because of the abundance of energy
and food, because of dramatic advances in medicine, better healthcare and
higiene, that human population has really jumped into the billions and keeps
going higher.
When our scientists investigates into our past, they find that it is "the
burial of
of our dead and the care for our sick" that mainly differentiates our
race from the
other animals. It seems that this only happened some 50,000 years ago.
Or, you can also say, 2,500 generations.
There is no way that the billions of today could have lived hundres of life
periods,
(or whatever the number is supposed to be)
when human population has been so scarce in the past.
If you or someone else has a logical, acceptable explanation
for this, I will love to hear it.
