As I understand Theosophy teaches that everything is in evolution,
starting from the immortal "life-atom" or MONADIC ESSENCE there is a gradual
separation as experience is acquired into individual MONADS.

"The 'Three-tongued flame' that never dies is the immortal spiritual
triad--the Atma-Buddhi and Manas...The 4 'wicks' that go out and are
extinguished are the 4 lower principles..."	SD I 237

etc....  that is the Eternal Pilgrim and its many vehicles in cluding at
early stages: minerals, vegetables, animals and humans -- and from there to
the infinities of wisdom and responsibility
