Dear Ram-Doss:
Nicholas feels the Mahatma described in an account by a Brahman
Yogi (K.B.) in a letter to the E.S.T. of March 1893 and
reprinted in ~Echoes of the Orient~, Vol. III pp.430-32 is not
the same Ramalinga yogi to whom you referred in your posting.
Nevertheless it may be of interest to you, since it proved the
acquaintance of another Mahatma who had been a part of a "Circle"
involved in the founding of the T.S. In ~Echoes~(p.431) he
states:
> The T.S. was their work; it was established to change the
> present current of the human mind and destroy Nastikism, to save
> the seed of the fifth race --the Aryan -- that he was present
> when H.P.B. was sent by her Master from the Manasarovara Hills
> in Tibet; that the latter had not bettter ask who was H.P.B. and
> where she is now, but she was sent to carry out the work of the
> Mahatmas; -- that she was very high up there is not the least
> doubt, that he himself was one of the Circle, although not so
> high as the Guru of H.P.B ...
Those on the list, new to Theosophy, please do not take the word
"Aryan" in the 20th Century vogue, but as it was meant in the
time of H.P.Blavatsky when the T.S. sought to restore Aryan
literature (meaning the Indian and Sub-continent).
Please accept my apology for mistaking the identity of this
Mahatma with Ramalinga Pillai.
