In the famous letter outlining the observations of Maha Chohan, one of the
lines is very significant, considering the fact that it was dated 1880. ---

            In view of the ever increasing triumph and at the same time
misuse of free-thought and liberty (the Universal reign of Satan, Eliphas
Levi would have called it), how is the combative natural instinct of man to
be restrained from inflicting hitherto unheard of cruelties and enormities,
tyranny, injustice, etc., if not through the soothing influence of a
brotherhood and of the practical application of Buddha's esoteric
doctrines.---

            Even in modern days, history is full of such âinflicting
hitherto unheard of cruelties and enormitiesâ, but no one talks or writes
about them. You do not see them in text and history books either. I was
shocked at what the Allies did in Europe after the WWII. Read the article
