Approach to Understand -2

Approach to Understand Theosophy --2.We cannot stop with the mind. There can be certain
faculties and capabilities that are beyond the mind, for example the quality of
'discrimination' (Buddhi and Viveka are the Sanskrit words for this.)
Then, what is the binding factor for the body and mind? What is it that fuses
them together in terms of our earlier discussion? Can it be Life? Stretching
further the imagination, what is the origin of life and what is the culmination
for that? These can be mere words and could mean nothing unless we go beyond in
pondering over their import and impact on our living. It is easy to dismiss all
this as an idle man's speculation or mental hallucination. Such dismissal only
leads us to a situation missing the main focus of our existence. Scientific
meaning of the terms such as Life, Awareness and Consciousness are popular
today. It is totally impossible to close our eyes and ears to such expressions
and their innumerable workings. When we say we are conscious of our life and
being, we put that term on a high pedestal to that of Life. Consciousness is an
adjective made into a noun, to mean it in the context of English grammar. To
this basic adjective, few more terms are added such as Universal, Divine,
Global and Human which suggest we intend fragmenting the 'consciousness' for
purposes of better understanding and management. This elementary analysis of
our being brought us to a four-fold structure of ourselves viz. Body, Mind,
Life and Consciousness. Can we say that the study in depth of these elements is
redundant unless we are too unmindful of the happenings around? I am sure all
of us want to live 'meaningfully' and 'purposefully' and not somehow and
anyhow.

heosophy is an open-ended pathway to higher knowledge
and approach to life. There are of course some popular misconceptions about the
term and first we have to keep clear of such things. That this is not a religion but religion itself,
according to the emphasis made by Madame Blavatsky. To her it is a synthesis of
Religion, Philosophy and Science in the enlarged human endeavor to realize the
Truth about Existence/Manifestation. It is again the way for the human mind to
expand in an exercise to 'embrace the whole of the Universe.' It is the Wisdom
that was 'accumulated by humanity through the ages.' It unfurls to the future
times. Theosophy as we see today has its own Philosophy, Science, Religion,
Economy, Ecology and all human sciences in a strict endeavor to unite all into
one great whole. One fundamental law expounded by Blavatsky runs as below:

The
radical unity of the ultimate essence of each constituent part of compounds in
nature - from star to mineral atom, from the highest Dhyan Chohan to the
smallest infusorium, in the fullest acceptation of the term, and whether
applied to the spiritual, intellectual or physical worlds - this unity is the
one fundamental law in Occult Science.

When we see this vividly as the revelation of the
Science too today, there can be no repulsion or marginalization of the
philosophic ideas. Dr N C Ramanujachary

Literature is for Portrayal of Philosophic Ideas.
