Thanks for the info.
In December, the fact should be known to the GC members since the
appointment has to be run thru the GC. But it is the traditional
unnecessary secrecy that prevents any of them from speaking even though
there is no rule that they cannot speak because it is no secret info nor TS
is a secret organization.
Singhal was Indian General Secretary and hence is familiar with TS
organizational issues. The good thing is that he is moving to Adyar and
will be living there.
Rumors have it that it was hard to find someone with experience in TS to
come and live in Adyar. Remote operation does not not work.
Radha is almost ninety and at this age anything can happen any time. So it
is good that the VP is in Adyar in case a need arises for the VP to make
decisions.
Singhal is also old and I wish we had a younger person. He too is in an age
group that health can turn to be an issue. All you need to look at past
active TS leaders in this age group and will find death and disability is a
fact of life. Finding and bringing in a younger person to lead is very
critical to the future of TS.
While the Sections are fully autonomous and the International President
cannot interfere unless there is a violation of the International Rules, we
should be reminded of the past.
When Judge and his followers seceded from the American Section, the Section
was rebuilt by the leadership of Annie Besant. She toured and lectured in
the USA and was able to do it, since she was much younger and physically
fit to travel and lecture.
So a capable younger International President can help Sections at this
time. All one needs is to look at the shrinking of membership world-wide,
including the USA. Also a younger person would be familiar with the
unlimited potential of Internet to help Theosophy and can use it. Everyone
knows how TS world-wide is badly behind the curve in the use of Internet.
