Re: theos-talk Update on Krishnamurti School in TS Adyar Property

I am very glad that your Section has an excellent policy of keeping members
informed of International Administrative issues. This helps build
cohesiveness in the Section, cooperation and confidence in the leadership
and I hope other Sections can learn from your experience.

Unfortunately in the USA, the situation is sad. We learn much of the info
that trickles out via 'grapevine' and this forum. The main channel of any
disclosure in the Section is the print media which can be several months
late and info is already old. (May be everyone is very busy managing money
and property.)

Glad for your support for transparency. I hope the documentation on the
proposals submitted by the K School supporters is made public soon. Delays
would only support speculation and rumors, both of which is not going to
help anyone.

There is yet another aspect to the decision. Some of us recall that in
1960s, a part of the land in Adyar was sold to TS members to build houses.
When the offer was made, it was strange that members in South India
discovered it from an announcement in Uganda or Kenya as I recall.

When this proposal came up, the local Government wanted to acquire a big
chunk of Adyar for public use. Members all over the country contacted the
local Govt and Prime Minister of India to stop the move. Ultimately, it was
stopped, and rumor has it that the Prime Minister personally intervened.

The current decision to expand Olcott School curriculum is a populist cause
which has much support from local Government and populist politicians. On
the other hand, support for any continued use by K School would have been
very unpopular and would have opened up a can of worms and risk acquisition
of part of the Adyar estate by the local Government for public purposes.

Let us keep tuned for any additional info.
