Science and religion: God didn't make man; man made gods

There is a very interesting article in the LA times. At the beginning of
the New Year, this article is like a breath of fresh air. It reminds me of
the famous letter from one of the theosophical Adepts about God with a
capital G. Jiddu Krishnamurti also made several statements in the same vein.

Lot of todayâs problems and misery in the world can be traced to the God
and Gods invented by man and large groups of men and women are exploited in
the name of God.

Altruism is the foundation of thesophical doctrine. Here is a quote from
the article:

âMichael Tomasello, a developmental psychologist who co-directs the Max
Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, has
also done work related to morality and very young children. He and his
colleagues have produced a wealth of research that demonstrates children's
capacities for altruism. He argues that we are born altruists who then have
to learn strategic self-interest.

Let us all hope that 2012 will be more peaceful year world around.
