Dear Cass and friends

My views are:

Cass wrote:
"You pointed out yourself that the importance lay in purifying one's bodies and I was just querying what this actually means in real terms, as I am somewhat convinced that many theosophists believe it is merely becoming vegetarian and alcohol free."

M. Sufilight says:
Okay I think I got your point.
And where did I point that out in my post?
See your reply to my post here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/message/57027

I asked there:
"I wonder whether the Theosophical Society is a sect or non-sectarian?
Or whether it was a sect or non-sectarian?"

However, as a Sufi saying goes:
Maybe you are writing to the wall so that the door my hear the bell ringing.
And that might be a good idea.

____________
What I am saying at other places is that - psychological change - has to occur if altruism is sought to be promoted.
If true, each persons will have to find out what that psychological change - imply or might imply. And since psychology today is a science, there must some solid ground to research here.
To tell people about it and what to do might involve conditioning factors and even Subtle Mind Control. I think one aught to consider that.
So to learn about the difference between sectarian and non-sectarian thinking and what it is seem to be - could seem to be important when psychological change occurs.

This could be a purification of the bodies in theosophical terms of a 7-fold body - or - in the name of non-sectarian thinking - it could be something different. But a psychological change seems necessary from the scientific proofs we have available today. Because the science of psychology has existed since about 1880 and has now matured so much that it is broadly recognized on the globe by millions of fellow human beings. But not much seems to be known about it by people in general and about its possible positive consequences.

But the question was about sectarian behaviour in TS or not.
No answers so far from any in the Theosophical Society. A Society which primary aim is to promote altruism.
An aim which apperently primarily is being performed by saying nothing. (smile.)

And that baffles me.

Is the point really about who said what, shouldn't it be about Argawal's ideas on merging with Atman. You pointed out yourself that the importance lay in purifying one's bodies and I was just querying what this actually means in real terms, as I am somewhat convinced that many theosophists believe it is merely becoming vegetarian and alcohol free.

  >>Theosophists or anyone for that matter must purify his bodies ready for the merge with atman. The merging can only occur when there is an adept supervising and as the old saying goes, many believe they are chosen, but few are picked.
