2008 Crisis in Theosophical Society (Adyar)
After the CWL crisis, the 2008 International Election, in the opinion of
many members, was the most critical crisis in TS history.
Out of every crisis, TS has always come out stronger because it puts members
and leaders under intense bright light and shows them in their true colors.
While it may be personally painful to many, a lot of good always comes out
in the long run. The full real history is yet to come out and it may be
decades if we will ever know all the facts.
Here are some thoughts. It:
Showed people and personalities in true colors
Showed who stood for Truth and real welfare of TS
Showed those who had no part
Showed those wire pullers behind the scenes.
Showed those who had to keep silent due to fear of marginalization or loss
of job or room and board or loss of TS platform for their lectures and other
activities, including progression in un-related but related activities.
Showed those whose interests were in conflict with those of dues paying
members
Showed those who reveled in all the action behind the scenes
Showed those whose self-interests triumphed over theosophical interests
Showed those who ignored facts and reality and lived in their own ârealityâ
There is a saying: âIf the cap or shoe fits, wear it.â It is up to us to
decide who falls into what category.
The only entity which came out in flying colors was independent Internet
mailing lists such as theos-talk (which are traditionally avoided by
organizational theosophists for decades and continues to this day.)
These free lists operated round the clock on real-time and members
world-wide were informed of facts and helped members to cast their votes
based on right info and facts.
Long live Internet!!!!
