It's not exactly so. OCR makes recognition errors, especially in texts full of special terms, like theosophical ones, because the software often is vocabulary-based. It works pretty well with newspaper articles but in special texts sometimes causes weirdest errors.
So all scanned texts should undergo a toilsome process of proof-reading.

Though there's another option: scan in graphic format, like djvu, as the cheap disk space and high transmission speed reached today enable to do so.

Also we shouldn't forget about the reverse process: after making the digital copy of a rare book, it would be desirable to make hard copies and keep in the lodge libraries. It is needed not only for convenience of aged people but also as a safeguard agaist any catastrophes with the computers.
